Arrangements for the pilgrimage, which will take place from 20-30 April 2023 have now been confirmed, and may be found in the attached brochure.

There are still places available and members of the Order from all jurisdictions, and their families and friends, are warmly invited to take part.

Despite daily difficulties, the activities of the members of the Grand Priory of Italy continue unabated.

The Grand Officer of Arms, Rev. David Juliano, has officially published a new book on the Order’s heraldry.

The Service of Investiture of the Grand Priory of Italy was held on Sunday 8th May 2022, in Varese (very close to Milan) at the Church of S.Stefano and S.Evasio.

The Service of Investiture of the Grand Priory of England and Wales was held on Saturday 30th April 2022 at the splendid St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, London, by permission of the vicar, The Revd Canon Alan Gyle SChLJ. At 11.00am prompt, the procession entered the Church to the rousing organ voluntary ‘Introduction- Choral’ from Suite Gothique, Op. 25 composed by Léon Boëllmann.

The office of the Grand Hospitaller urges all jurisdictions to support this appeal for aid to the suffering people of Ukraine.

On this the day of his funeral in Cape Town (3 January 2022), the Grand Bailiwick of the Order of St Lazarus in South Africa joins in the worldwide mourning for Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.  

His death has been a profound loss for the world, his country, the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, and the Order of St Lazarus. 

The Order is proud of its association with Archbishop Tutu who was invested with the Ecclesiastical Grand Cross Chaplain in 2008. 

We regret to announce that the continued spread of the Omicron variant of COVID means that it has been necessary to cancel the International Pilgrimage scheduled to take place later this Spring at Velehrad in the Czech Republic.  I realise that many members will be deeply disappointed at this news.   As soon as there is further news about the rescheduling of this important event, I shall let members know.
