In his latest book entitled The Primitive Statutes of the Monks of War and the Rules of St Benedict and St Augustine, Professor Charles Savona-Ventura brings together the early statutes and rules of these various Crusader Orders - the Monks of War. He compares these with Western-based religious Monastic Order’s regulations in force during the period of the crusades. This publication, published by the International Academy of, will definitely be useful for anyone studying the origins of any of the Crusader Orders in the Holy Land.

The 2025 Spring National Investiture of the Grand Priory of England & Wales took place in Shrewsbury and was attended by about 80 members and guests, hosted by the Commandery of The Marches.

We regret to share news of the death of our much-loved and greatly respected Grand Master Emeritus, His Excellency Francisco de Paula Enrique de Borbon y Escasany, 5th Duke of Seville, Grandee of Spain and late 48th Grand Master of the Order of Saint Lazarus. He played a significant role in reuniting the Malta and Paris Obediences. He will always be remembered for his long-standing commitment to the Order of Saint Lazarus. Please pray for the repose of his soul and for those he held dear.

As the sun rose over the ancient Scottish City of Stirling on Saturday 03 May, so too commenced a new chapter for the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland, as the beautiful Victorian-era Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, nestled at the foot of Castle Hill, played host to the 2025 Investiture of HE Dame Mary Kenyon as the Order’s new Grand Bailie in Scotland.

The Grand Priory of Finland celebrated its 50th anniversary in Turku on 26 April 2025 with a distinguished gathering of over 100 participants. Turku holds special significance for the Grand Priory as its spiritual home, being the location of the first investiture and ecumenical service in 1975. The celebration was honoured by the presence of the Grand Master, H.E. Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg GCLJ.

Members of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland gathered in the small West Lothian town of Broxburn on the evening of Wednesday 16 April for their Easter Service. Despite torrential rain and challenging weather conditions, members from across Scotland as well as honoured guests from the Grand Priory of England and Wales met at the 135-year-old United Free Church of Saint Nicholas for an evening of celebration, kinship, and worship. 

The unplanned presence of H.E. the Grand Master Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg GCLJ, at the Liturgy of Lazarus Resurrection, which took place on Saturday April the 12th, at the Holy Church of Aghios Sostis for the Athens Commandery members of the Hellenic Grand Priory, was the best Easter gift for all of us.

The Saint Lazarus Days held in Athens on December 6 to 7, 2024 were a great success. H.E. the Grand Master Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg GCLJ and the Grand Commander of the Order the Chevalier RADM Kenneth P Moritsugu GCLJ honoured us with their presence together with representations of Brothers and Sisters from the Grand Commandery of the Castello - Malta and the Grand Priory of England and Wales.06
