The solemn rites for the investiture of the new members of the Grand Bailiwick of Sicily will take place on 20 and 21 January 2024.
The Vigil will take place on 20 January at 7.00 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Monreale, in conjunction with the prayer vigil for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, and will be presided over by the Archbishop of Monreale and Senior Chaplain of the Grand Bailiwick, Monsignor Gualtiero Isacchi, ECLJ.
The Pontifical and investiture ceremony will take place at the Sacred Heart Chapter Church in Monreale on 21 January at 10.30 a.m. and will be presided over by the Ecclesiastical Grand Prior of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, Mons. Michele Pennisi, GCLJ, Archbishop Emeritus of Monreale, and concelebrated by the Archbishop of Monreale and Senior Chaplain of the Grand Bailiwick, Mgr Gualtiero Isacchi, ECLJ, and the Abbot of San Martino delle Scale, Dom Vittorio Rizzone, ECLJ, Chaplain of the Grand Bailiwick.
Among the new members are Anglican Archbishop Ian Ernest, Personal Representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Holy See and Archbishop Antonii, Metropolitan of Western and Central Europe of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Patriarchate of Bulgaria.
