At the solemn Investiture of the Grand Priory of Finland on 16.4.2016 in the Town Church of Jyväskylä the newly appointed Grand Prior, Dame Helena Pesola, DCLJ, CMLJ, SCrLJ, SMLJ, and Prior, Chevalier Berndt von Veh, KCLJ, KMLJ, were installed and sworn in their new offices and duties by the Grand Prior Emeritus His Excellency the Chevalier Aarne I. Koskimies, GCLJ, KMLJ, GMLJ, who thereafter was presented the Gold Cross of Merit (GCrLJ).

On Good Friday (March 25, 2016) members of the Commandery of Vác, Grand Priory of Hungary, took part in a Calvary procession led by Chev. József Attila Szalárdy KLJ and Father Archbishop Dr. Lajos Varga.

Members of the Order of the Order of Malta and of the Order of the Knights of Saint Sepulchre also joined members of the Commandery for the procession, which began at the Chapel of St Sepulchre.  14 stations of Christ’s sufferings may be seen from this starting point, which is situated inside the fortress on top of the Calvary hill.

On April 15th, the Imperial Calcasieu Delegation of the Grand Priory of America travelled from Lake Charles, Louisiana to our Order’s National Shrine at New Orleans for its Spring Pilgrimage. They were joined by several members of the Grand Commandery of the South.  All enjoyed a tour of the Old Ursuline Convent and were treated by Fr. May to a most informative exegesis of the St Lazarus icon at our shrine. The retreat concluded with a prayer service in St Mary’s church, adjacent to our shrine.

Rev Alexander MacDonald, Senior Chaplain of St Lazarus in Scotland conducted our annual Easter Service, held in Greenside Parish Church Edinburgh. This is one of the Order’s annual  contributions during Holy Week.
Some 40 members, friends and guests gathered. Rev Ian Ramsden gave the address, with readings by Col John Kelly, Grand Baillie (Isaiah 65,vs 17-19) and member Gordon Price (Luke 24, vs 1-12).
Prayers were led by Rev Colin McAulay and Rev Margery Collin – Margery being a strong supporter of the work of the Order. Church organist Muriel Aird led the praise. Representatives of the four charities receiving donations from the Order each gave updates on the work of their charities, and how the Order’s donations helped them.
