This event was hosted by the Commandery of Wales whose Commander, Chevalier Dr David Woolf KLJ, is to be congratulated on his hard work and attention to detail, which contributed in no small part to a successful occasion.

Nearly 70 members and guests attended the Vigil at 7.00pm on Friday 15th April in the Abbey Church at Belmont, during which 9 postulants made their vows of dedication before the Chaplain-General, Colonel The Revd Fr Ian Evans QHC, SChLJ, MMLJ, and all were led in meditation of The Beatitudes. The Grand Prior, The Most Honourable the Marquis of Lothian PC, GCLJ and the Bailiff, H.E. The Chevalier Charles Holloway, GCLJ, KMLJ were in attendance. Afterwards, a dinner at Hedley Lodge, formerly part of the Benedictine Community’s buildings, fortified the inner man.

Some 40 members and friends of the Order joined together in the George Suite of the Millennium Hotel in Glasgow for the annual Spring Dinner. The evening started with a pre-dinner drink where friends could renew acquaintances and new friendships formed in a very congenial atmosphere. Prior to the meal Chev Ross Mennie, our Master of Ceremonies, invited His Excellency Chev Roy Scott, Chancellor of the Order in Scotland, to say a few words of welcome. Countess Éva Nyáry KCLJ-J (Grand Prior) and Chancellor Chev. Albert Sigmond CLJ, along with Commandant Chev. Béla Kulcsár KLJ and members of the Commandery of Győr, represented the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, greeting His Excellence, Dr. Lajos Pápai, diocesan prelate of Győr at a thanksgiving mass on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his ordination as bishop.

The Hungarian Jurisdiction of the Military and Hospitaller Order of of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem was pleased to share in the concert given by students studying with the Suzuki method, in Saint Anne’s Church, Budapest,where the students played with great success.
Next time we shall meet on Sunday  24th April, on a promenade boat, to discuss future projects and participation in charity concerts and joint programmes.
The students will also introduce themselves to the members of our Order of Knights at a concert after the mass at our August Investiture.
