On Saturday the 10th of June a small but dedicated group of members of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland gathered at the tranquil and lovely setting of the home and gardens of the Baillie Ron and Dame Elizabeth Partington for an afternoon Garden Party. The setting was perfect just on the outskirts of Edinburgh at the foot of the Pentland Hills. Peter and Irene Rae provided the Gazebo: however it took a few members sometime to erect the structure fighting against a slight breeze and no assembly instructions.  We go it up in the end, (Hooray). We were very pleased to see our good friends Charles and May McKerrell who had travelled up from the Borders to join us for the afternoon.

Ron showed the guest around his large formal garden and the wild area which had a little burn running through it, while Elizabeth played hostess with the help of Mary Kenyon and Irene Rae. A large selection of sandwiches, cakes and treats had been provided by the ladies for us to feast on, washed down by lots of tea and coffee. As guests sat outside in the sun chatting they were encouraged to part with a small donation for the raffle which was in the capable hands of Ross and Marion with an array of prizes to be won.

The weather stayed dry and most of the guests paid a visit to the Alpaca Farm in the field next the house where the owner explained the process of how they get the wool and dry this, ready for delivery to the spinners. Our picture shows the Baillie and some of the members. As the lovely afternoon came to an end the Grand Baillie Roy Scott thanked Ron and Elizabeth for opening up their home to the Order members and presented them with a rose bush for the garden. The raffle raised the grand sum of £220 for the work of the Order.  Well done to all who helped at this event.
