The East of Scotland Commandery of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland held a Charity Dinner in the lovely setting of the Library of The New Club overlooking Edinburgh Castle on Friday 11th October. Around 27 members of the Order and friends joined the Commander Chevalier Peter Gardener for an enjoyable pre dinner drink followed by dinner. The Grand Baillie of the Order in Scotland HE Chevalier Roy Scott led the company in grace and gave a short talk about the work of the order after dinner. The main speaker for the evening was Mr Ian Robertson CStJ Deacon Convener of the Trades of Edinburgh, also known as the third citizen of Edinburgh. His talk was about the work and history of the Trades in Edinburgh and this was very interesting and well received by all who attended.

The international Hospitaller Report 2019, presented by the Grand Hospitaller, H.E. the Chev. Brett Delahunt, GCLJ is now available in the download section.

On 17 July last, three members of the Commandery (Chev John Neil, Commander Chev. Klaus Priebe, Vice Commander and Confrère Vincent Reynolds) presented a cheque for $1,000 to the Langley Care Foundation to assist in funding activity therapies for residents of Langley Lodge, a complex care facility in Langley BC.

Leah Pattison, the founder of Women in Need (WIN), a UK Charity operating in Nagpur, India, was presented with the MBE by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace for services to underprivileged women in India.  For the past eight years, WIN has been the recipient of ongoing support from the Grand Commandery of the Castello (VO/1558), a jurisdiction of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem based at Castello Lanzun in Malta.
