The 'Carnival of the Poor' organised by the Grand Priory of Hungary attracted a large amount of publicity for the Order in the local media and on television.

Countess Éva Nyáry DGCLJ-J Grand Prior, Albert Sigmond CLJ Chancellor of Budapest and members of the Commandery of Miskolc attended, welcoming guests from the Care Centre for the Homeless run by the Hungarian Red Cross, who hosted the event, and other homeless and needy individuals.

On 2 February 2016, Chaplain Jenő Rákóczi of the Roman Catholic parish church of Our Lady of the Hungarians of Nyíregyháza received a truck full of  donations, sent by the Hungarian Grand Priory of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.

The donations totalled 115 bags and 20 boxes, weighing almost 2000 kg. and included dresses, suits for men and women, warm blankets and shoes, children’s dresses, toys and school equipment, as well as kitchen utensils.  These will all be distributed by the clergy and nuns to needy families, elderly and homeless people.
A night shelter has also been set up for homeless people due to the cold weather in Nyíregyháza.

The members of the Grand Priory of the Maltese Islands through its Non-Governmental Organizations, the Order of Charity and the Ordo Sancti Lazari Melitensis Fundatio, have supported and participated in a weekend-long Television Marathon which collected a total of €202,855 in aid of missionary work. The Marathon, organized by the Socio-Religious Transmission Foundation [Fondazzjoni Xandir Socjo-Religjuz], was transmitted on all the Maltese television stations.
