  Welcome

Welcome to the official homepage of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, set up by the St. Lazarus Internet Commission. This common international homepage has been designed to give any person interested a clearer view of the history, the heraldry and the aims of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, an international Order of Chivalry, whose beginnings go back almost 900 years.

The Order of St. Lazarus is at present administered by two branches, the Malta Obedience headed by the Duke of Seville with headquarters on Malta, and the Paris branch, headed by the Duke of Brissac, with headquarters in Paris. Although today divided into two branches, it continues its 900 year-old tradition through the dedication and concerted efforts of approx. 4 - 5000 members throughout the world, living in all continents, carrying out works of Christian charity under the banner of St. Lazarus.

Its appeal lies in its long history, its strong religious affiliation and its heartfelt commitment to alleviating suffering, particularly that of the young, the elderly, the handicapped and those afflicted with leprosy and other life-threatening diseases of the modern age. Dedication to those high ideals binds these men and women together in the ancient tradition of chivalry.
