The parcels were donated by members of the Order.

Rev. Ferenc Palánkai Catholic and Rev. Dr. Atanáz Orosz Greek Catholic bishops on the Kossuth square in Miskolc blessed the 150 parcels which were distributed among the pupils and children of local extended families from Miskolc. The parcels contained toys, food, chocolate and fruits. The action was combined with a short public singing jointly with the Sisters of St. Francis. The representatives of the Order were later invited by the Catholic School where the leaders of the school expressed their appreciation and gratitude in the name of their institution and in the name of the City of Miskolc.

Chevalier Baron Yoshihiko Okabe, Delegate of the Orders Delegation of Japan, in the spirit of international friendships, organized a Japan-Ukraine diplomatic forum in Japan last year. He also met His Holiness Firaret, Patriarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In this academic year, Baron Okabe worked at the University of Bristol in the UK as a visiting research fellow, and he received the Freedom of the City of London award this February.

Carlos of Bourbon, Marquis of Almazan, visited the Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Portugal

The Grand Master was pleased to visit the first leprosarium built by the Portuguese near Marco Canavezes, which was supported by the Order in the thirteenth century.  He also visited the headquarters of the Grand Priory of Portugal, a magnificent building constructed during the eighteenth century, with architectural features of the region.  Situated along the Douro River, the Grand Priory’s headquarters includes a private chapel for its members, a meeting room, chapter room, library and six dwellings for annual retreats.  The Grand Priory of Portugal’s headquarters will also become the center of Portuguese “Lazaristas”, to create a framework for intervention and social support to Portuguese people who need it most.

It’s a fact, after three days there is no chance to survive. Over such a time, it is impossible to survive at this height, and the last day when Zsolt was seen, Péter wasn’t with him, he was descending slowly, and it isn’t imaginable that they could reach the lower terrain on different passes. The sherpas trying to rescue them couldn’t find any trace showing that they could reach camp no. four at 7600 meters, and no other team could locate Zsolt and Péter’s track. The official announcement that they have disappeared is striking information, but in the Himalayas, it means they will never return.

]]> 1369844089 Wed, 29 May 2013 18:14:49 +0200 HUNGARY - Two Hungariam Alpinists reported so missing after hosting the Lazarus flag on Hymalaya peak http://www.st-lazarus.net/international/pages/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1369572510&archive= The two Hungarian alpinists Zsolt Erőss and Péter Kiss departed  3 weeks ago for the Himalayan mountains to fly the flag with the cross of the Order of St. Lazarus on the top of the mountians.  On the 20th May 2013 at 1800 Nepal local time, they hoisted the flag of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus on Kanchenjunga peak at 8,586 meters.

Dr. Josef Pace,Grand Prior of the Malta Islands and the Commander of the Grand Commandery of the Castello Lanzun Chev. Chev. Gerry Maidens, over  hundred members and guests celebrated the 40th anniversary of the inauguration of the Castello Lanzun as interantional headquarter.
 The Grand Master Don Carlos Gereda  himself the Head of the Grand Commandery of the Castello remembered the unforgettable Grand Commander Lt Col Chev. Dr. Robert Gayre of Gayre and Nigg. In the early 70th he  donated n a ceremony on 12. May 1973 the Castello with the property as Headquarter of the Order.

Prof. Dr  Michael Wallis Ross has issued a complete List of the Coat of Arms of all legitmate national jurisdictions of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem.
