Pope Francis has appointed the Archbishop of Sydney Cardinal George Pell EGCLJ to a new senior role in the Vatican. Cardinal Pell will be the Prefect for the Economy of the Holy See and will be based in Rome. He will be responsible for annual budgets and have authority over all the Holy See’s administrative activities.

Father Ernest was born in 1906 in Hungary. The First World War caused significant losses to the Nyáry family. After attending the military service he felt the impulse to dedicate his life to serve God and decided to enter the Carmelites order where he finished his theological studies and became a priest in 1937 in Lille. His friendship with a monk, József Mindszenty who had met François De Paula De Bourbon, Grand Master of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem a few months earlier ended up with both of them becoming Knights of the Order of St. Lazarus in 1938.

The Chapel of the VaszaryKolos Hospital in Esztergom (Hungary) closed down in 1954. For a long time the building was used as an x-ray storage room for the hospital but ended up in a ruinous condition. Donations from the Order allowed the Chapel’s renovation. Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, Cardinal Dr. László Paskai consecrated it again in September 1991.

The Commander of Győr led a sucessful advent collection in support of the families and organizations in need belonging to the churches of Győr Episcopate.
Commander Béla Kulcsár KLJ, together with members of the Order handed the donations over to the dwellers of the homeless house of Győr.
