Grand Priory of America – Grand Commandery of the South Assists New Citizen
On March 13th the latest graduate of the Grand Commandery of the South’s citizenship program became our newest United States citizen. She is Fanta Delwende Sawadogo formerly of Burkina Faso, pictured here with Hugh Straub. She teaches at a French language immersion school in New Orleans, and is also working on her Masters degree.
The Grand Commandery of the South provides assistance to documented (legal) immigrants to complete the lengthy citizenship application form, as well as instruction to prepare newcomers for the citizenship examination.

The Order's Grand Commander recently visited the St. Lazarus House in Bergheim and the new Lazarus Children and Day Care Center, accepting an invitation from the HGP-EU's Grand Prior.
The Humanitarian Grand Priory in the European Union's (GP-EU) represented by its Grand Prior, the Chev. Klaus-Peter Pokolm togehter with Chev. Bernd Hinz KCLJ recently hosted a visit by the Grand Commander of the Order, the Chev. Dr. Ron Hendricks.

For several years the Grand Commandery of the South has been particularly interested in emphasizing the critical link of spirituality to medical skill both for the benefit of those who care for our sick and injured as well as for the patient. Through the efforts of Chev. Ted Borgman M.D., our interest has been manifested in the Archdiocese of New Orleans instituting an annual White Mass celebrating all those who work in the health care field. This year’s White Mass was celebrated January 24, by New Orleans Archbishop Aymond at St Louis Cathedral in New Orleans’ French Quarter.
