The East of Scotland Commandery of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland held a Charity Dinner in the lovely setting of the Library of The New Club overlooking Edinburgh Castle on Friday 11th October. Around 27 members of the Order and friends joined the Commander Chevalier Peter Gardener for an enjoyable pre dinner drink followed by dinner. The Grand Baillie of the Order in Scotland HE Chevalier Roy Scott led the company in grace and gave a short talk about the work of the order after dinner. The main speaker for the evening was Mr Ian Robertson CStJ Deacon Convener of the Trades of Edinburgh, also known as the third citizen of Edinburgh. His talk was about the work and history of the Trades in Edinburgh and this was very interesting and well received by all who attended.

The Commander was pleased to have as guest Chevalier Dr David Knox the Secretary of the Cumbria Commandery and Chevalier Charles Marshall commander of the Mersey Commndery both from England who had travel up specially to join the event.

Following the dinner and speeches the evening finished off with a raffle which raised the sum of £450, this will go to the Harlaw Monday Group Day care for Older people with mild to moderate Dementia or cognitive impairment. A vote of Thanks was given to Mrs Irene Rae and Dame Lorraine Veith-Rutherford for organising the event.
