The Grand Bailiff, HE Dominique Doyen, GCLJ, in a long communication addressed to his members on Easter Day and which he transmitted to us, wrote, in a long message summarized here, that on the day of the resurrection of Christ our Saviour, traditionally a day of joy, the world is overwhelmed by a terrible pandemic whose virus is not well known, nor is there a vaccine that could protect the whole world. He recalled that ten years ago, Bill Gates announced such a catastrophe because of a lack of research and preparation.

Since the role of the Order is to provide relief to the sick and the unfortunate, what better way to fulfil it than by seeking to prevent the disease? The Grand Bailiwick authorities therefore decided to make a donation of €10,000 to the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale. He emphasised that although the lack of notoriety and visibility of our Order among the public or the ecclesiastical authorities has often been deplored, this €10,000 will not astonish the crowds, but that those who wish to communicate about this donation will be
able to do so, as the sum is nevertheless substantial.
