The Commandery of Wales (Grand Priory of England & Wales) reports on a recent emergency appeal in Samburu, Kenya, towards which the Commandery raised over £1,800. The Commander of Wales, Chev. Dr David Woolf KLJ, writes: “It is worth remembering that in Biblical times, and even much later, it was not just Mycobacterium leprae that was called leprosy.  Many other contagious, untreatable and poorly understood skin conditions were often generally classified by the generic term leprosy.  Page 6 of Mr Morris’ report gives a very graphic example of a young man who in former years would have been labelled as a leper.”
