    Bringing Christians together

The Service and Mass were led with great love and affection by H.E. the Most Reverend Archbishop Pennisi, Ecclesiastical Grand Prior. During the service Ron Hendricks, Grand Commander, delivered an address on the work and direction that our Grand Master has given to our order since his installation in 2007 at Manchester. In part of his address he stated that Carlos was very interested in the Hospitaller work of our Order and in the spiritual issues of a Christian Order.  He therefore insisted on having a pilgrimage every two years.

Although he was very ill he unexpectedly arrived at the pilgrimage in Monreale in June of this year, the strength of his determination and the total love of our Order is shown by action.

Patricia Freeman, Deputy Vice Grand Chancellor, took the nautical theme in her address of which this is part:

He captained several ships throughout his life: That of his family and friends, guiding it with love and understanding. The ship of Saint Lazarus, which arrived to good port after the creation of the International Foundation, guaranteeing the future and survival of our antique and noble Order.

The winds were always favourable to this Grand Captain, because he always included Christ in his navigation chart.

Atavis et Armis.

May he fly with the angels.
