History

The Commandery is established at the Torri Ta Lanzun (Castello Lanzun), which it owns and whose purchase was made possible by the generosity of the late LtCol Robert Gayre of Gayre and Nigg, Laird of Lochore. The Torri was formally opened by the late Grand Master, H.R.H. Don Francisco de Borbon y de Borbon, in 1973 under the name "Commandery of Lochore in Malta", subsequently changed to "Commandery of The Castello" in 1986. Torri Ta Lanzun (Castello Lanzun), property of the Order, is the official headquarters of the Grand Master.
In spring 2001 the Commander, H.E. Major Chev. Stuart Hamilton, GCLJ, retired and the Grandmaster, H.R.H. the Duke of Seville himself took over the leadership of this Jurisdiction.
