Following the Official Appeal of both the Grand Masters of the Order of St. Lazarus, H.R.H. the Duke of Seville and H.E. The Duke of Brissac, towards the end of December 2004, dramatic and positive responses and actions have occurred. This has ensured that the Order in a closed collaboration of both Obediences is now able to deliver immediately its first common positive and practical relief programme for the people in need.
During detailed discussions between the common Relief Commission of the Order and the LAZARUS-HILFSWERK (LHW) in both Germany and Austria with headquarters located in Germany, it has been agreed that the LHW in conjunction with the EHC will undertake the technical supervision of the Orders practical aid operations that will take place now and in the future as part of the Saint Lazarus Asia Disaster Relief Programme established by the Grand Masters.
The LHW Board of Directors has passed a formal resolution enabling it to participate fully in its role as an international accredited Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) on behalf of the Order.
By this positive involvement of the LHW, all aid will be delivered under our Lazarus Green Cross and under the leadership of the Head of the Saint Lazarus Delegation in Indonesia, These Lazarus volunteers will accompany the trucks to ensure the safe, and effective delivery of our aid without loss and directly to the needier.
